New Event Format: Dementia Update – Clinical Series
The Dementia Update – Clinical Series is a new virtual format developed by the Swiss Memory Clinics in collaboration with the Swiss Network for Dementia Research. Launching in early 2026, this virtual format offers healthcare professionals a “slightly different lunch break,” a convenient and engaging way to stay updated and connected on the latest developments in dementia care and research.
Why you can't miss this series
In the fast-paced world of clinical practice, finding time for ongoing learning can be a challenge. This series brings knowledge straight to your lunch hour. Each session combines a concise, clinically relevant presentation with an interactive discussion, encouraging participants to share insights and experiences. By connecting experts from neurology, geriatrics, psychiatry, neuropsychology and related fields, the series fosters knowledge exchange within and across clinical disciplines. Researchers are also warmly invited to participate to strengthen the dialogue between clinical practice and research.
Sessions are scheduled every second Thursday of the month at 12:00 pm (CET), lasting 45 – 50 minutes with the first session launching on 15 January 2026 via Microsoft Teams.
Topics will cover a broad range of timely and practically relevant issues, including:
- Implementation of amyloid therapies
- ARIA predication, detection and management
- Diagnostic and blood-based biomarkers
- Frontotemporal dementia and other dementias
- Prevention strategies
- Therapeutic challenges
- Etc.
The Clinical Update provides a platform for exchange and shared learning, enabling participants to connect, discuss and learn from one another’s experiences. Continuing education credits will be available for participants, making it both convenient and professionally rewarding.
Collaboration behind the scenes
This series is the product of a close collaboration between the Swiss Network for Dementia Research and the (SMC). Drawing on the expertise of the SMCs, the program was carefully developed to meet the needs of busy clinical professionals, ensuring that content is both practical and evidence based.
“The prevention, diagnosis and therapy of dementia require commitment from a broad spectrum of clinical disciplines. With this in mind, we wanted to create a format that encourages knowledge exchange within and across clinical disciplines, allowing participants to learn from each other’s experiences and stay up to date.” – Dr. med. Rafael Meyer, president of the Swiss Memory Clinics
