Swiss Network for Dementia Research at the Synapsis Forum 2024

This year, the Swiss Network for Dementia Research participated for the first time in the Synapsis Forum, an event organized by the Dementia Research Switzerland – Synapsis Foundation specifically for researchers funded by the foundation. Over two exciting days, the researchers had the opportunity to present their projects, discuss their findings and engage in networking with the community.

On the second day of the forum, the network hosted a session introducing the association and its goals. Prof. Andreas Lüthi, president of the association, opened the session with a welcoming address, offering the participants an insight into the vision and offerings of the network.

Pre-Launch of the Community Platform

The highlight of the session was the pre-launch of the new Community Platform, where participants were introduced to its versatile features. The platform offers a valuable opportunity for the exchange and networking of researchers, clinicians, and experts in the field of dementia research. It serves as a centralized hub for dementia-related information, including an overview of experts in the field, ongoing research projects, available resources, initiatives, job opportunities, events and funding sources.

As with the platform's development, participants were invited to provide feedback and share their needs immediately after the demonstration. The results will be integrated into the platform’s further development to better align it with the community's requirements.

Creative Workshop on Science Communication

Following the platform presentation, a creative workshop with from took place on the topic of "Science Communication made easy." In interactive group work, participants developed explanatory videos and collaborated on new ideas to make scientific topics more accessible and understandable.

Our conclusion

The session at the Synapsis Forum was an important step towards closer collaboration and deeper exchange within the dementia research community. We look forward to further expanding the Community Platform and strengthening dialogue within the dementia community.
